Kelly Heck of Kelly Heck Photography asked me one day:

Hey, want to go to a Pawpaw Festival?"

I did want to go. Pawpaws sounded delicious and I knew this was my chance to try one.  Hillbilly Mango is apparently the slang for them.  They are supposed to be sweet and have a custard like texture.  Apparently to try one, you either need to know someone who has a tree or get lucky at a specialty farmer's market.  So, we went.

So, long story short.  The pawpaws are delicious.  As one of their signs read:

A creamy fruit, with flavors of Banana, Mango & Pineapple.

What we came to find out however, is that there were several different varieties each with it's own characteristics. That and the fact that pawpaws have GIANT seeds, and a lot of them.  Once you get past all of that however lies a creamy, pineapple, pear tasting flesh that is unlike anything you've ever tried before. They even had pawpaw ice cream, which I could have eaten all day! Pawpaws are so sweet, the ice cream had no added sugar. And was out of this world.  It was a small and simple festival but was large on education.

One of these attractions was a Nature Hike

with this man pictured above, Eric Lewis.  Eric took the group on a foraging hike through the permaculture/food forest where he spit out more scientific names of families and specific plants than I'm sure Wikipedia has on record.  He also gave a good talk on the importance of growing with nature, as opposed to fighting it and how it we start to refer to plants like we do people, it's easier to relate and take care of them.

Trevor and Victoria of Local Homestead Products

are amazing people.  You couldn't find a sweeter couple, and I actually not only got to work with them on this video, but I also got to shoot their wedding with the very talented Kelly Heck of Kelly Heck Photography I feel spoiled because every interaction with Trevor and Victoria is a special one.  They just make you fell right at home.

Trevor and Victoria's green houses are AMAZING!

What they can produce and keep FRESH and on hand year round is a sight to behold. Not to mention, the green houses operate THEMSELVES!  Yes.  All by THEMSELVES!  Too hot? They'll open up and kick on the fans if necessary. Too cold?  They'll close everything down and seal up tight to keep as much warmth in as possible.  Ah... technology.

Working with Kimberly McCord Golliday (a.k.a. Miss Kim)

of the Taneytown Dance Center was an absolute treat.  She put her upmost trust in us to capture the vision she wanted to portray for her dance studio.  Executed with a fog machine and just one light, the mood is just right. Kelly Heck of Kelly Heck Photography and Adam Stultz of Digital Consulting LLC, captured Miss Kim in her natural setting of dance.

We of course must also thank the owners of George's On York Bed & Breakfast for letting us use the fog machine in the first place.  Without it, the shoot just wouldn't have been the same. A shoot where Miss Kim truly shared her soul and love of dance with us and paved the way for one outstanding video.

This shoot actually ending up spanning across two evenings.

One of the evenings we did the interview portion of Miss Kim's video and the other is the dance and fog machine portion you see laid over top of her interview.  Miss Kim did wonderful staying calm and relaxed in front of the camera.  Everyone, even the most experienced people get a little nervous in front of the camera.

But Miss Kim handled it like a pro delivering the beautiful soundbites you hear in her video.

There is a lot you don't get to hear unfortunately, like her talking about her favorite dance school, or her tragic injury and heroic comeback.  But if you want to hear that stuff, you might as well sign up for a class and get to know Miss Kim for yourself, we can guarantee you're going to like her... Everyone does.

Tiffany of Little Cuddlebug Photography

has to have the most adorable job in the world. I mean she gets to photograph babies and families all day long!  What I'm upset about is I actually didn't get to film any of the b-roll you see in this video.  Nope!  That honor fell to Kelly Heck of Kelly Heck Photography 2018's Carroll County's Best Photographer!  She is extremely talented and can capture video as well as you can tell from the adorable shots she got for Tiffany's video.  I don't think I could have come away with the material that Kelly did.  She's who really made this video shine.

Tiffany did an amazing job in her interview.

Handled it like a seasoned pro.  What that honestly shows is how passionate she is for what she does and I think it radiates out of the video.  True, honest passion is what sells people and Tiffany surely has plenty of it photographing infants, children and families.  The way they handled your initial call, all the way up to when you walk in the door is top notch at Little Cuddlebug Photography and Tiffany is living proof of what you can expect.
